In this forum, I spent the rest of the day walking from the front of the ship to the back of the ship trying to get as many decent pictures of the land as possible. We couldn’t even waste any time collecting other travellers as we were the only ones in the transport Ho hum So we arrived at Las Vegas airport at 720 am where the check-in desk was on the street outside (why when the concourse was empty inside) which was a first for us but it was efficient so we had no complaints though it was a bit unnerving to just abandon our luggage on a public footpath We’d only packed clothing for warm weather for our RTW trip When our initial plans had included the icebergs in southern Chile our plan had been to find the local equivalent of Primark and buy cheap throw-away cold weather clothing then As it happened we didn’t go to Patagonia so we’d had no need to do that and we’d been lucky on the whole with warmth even in New Zealand where the weather was wet but not too cold and nothing that a fleece (which I was sick of Desert riverwearing) and an electric blanket at night couldn’t cope with We had taken ‘dual-purpose’ clothing where we could I had a couple of sun dresses that could double up as nighties tee shirts that could go with pyjama bottoms and my only coat (apart from the trusty cagoule) was a raincoat that doubled up as a dressing gown Steve had swimwear that could double up as shorts and a bulky top coat that couldn’t do much other than be a top coat and hadn’t been out of the suitcase until now And that kind of explains why we were standing in 84 degree heat in Las Vegas looking like the male and female versions of the Michelin Man and Mrs Blobby dressed in sweltering jeans socks and trainers and carrying and wearing layer upon layer of clothing because in New York it was apparently literally freezing We mooched about outside the airport for a while people-watching everyone coming and going but the heat became too much for us in our inappropriate apparel and we found ourselves a nice quiet air-conditioned area in a secluded spot inside the airport and just outside the airport Post Office We still hadn’t managed Waterwaysto post anything home from America and even wearing a significant amount of our clothing we were touch and go on the luggage weight limit We’d maxed out our hand luggage allowance on this occasion (no-one ever weighed that and we made a point of casually throwing it over our shoulders and/or dangling it seemingly weightlessly from a little finger when checking in) but we still hoped to be able to finally post something home No such luck the Post Office was closed Nevertheless we were quite happy looking down on the arrivals baggage hall which had slot machines for the newcomers to spend their dollars on while they waited for their bags to come through At 920 am I wandered outside for a final cigarette before moving through into the Departure lounge with a whole 90 minutes still in hand Imagine my horror when I saw that the queue which had been non-existent when we arrived was now a mile long (slight exaggeration there but not by much) I did a hasty return to Steve rounded him up with frantic one word explanations (QUEUE hideous departure QUEUE flight miss QUEUE now move QUEUE) and we joined the back Rocky mountainsof the snake-like sloooooow-moving log-jam of people It rapidly became apparent that there were just not enough airport staff to cope with the volume of travellers We spent some time just standing going nowhere and it dawned on us that at this speed we were going to miss our flight I approached the man who was checking the first class/disabled/other priority people through a much quicker process but he was unsympathetic and told me to rejoin the QUEUE So after a quick debate and after deciding a woman (me) stood more chance of a positive response than a man (Steve) – at least that’s what Steve decided – I played on my stupidity as an Englishwoman in Las Vegas and adopted my best impression of an immediately recognisable ‘Brit Abroad’ accent and began to work my way down the QUEUE one person/group of people at a time saying ‘Excuse me I’m terribly/frightfully/awfully sorry to ask but we have misjudged our times and we may miss our flight so could we possibly leap-frog in front of you thank you sooooo much . ‘ And man that QUEUE was long We gathered quite an audience as we made our way along Steve Midway airportfollowing behind as a ‘plus one’ Some people were happy to oblige without question; others moved significant numbers of their party out of the way for us; some asked what time our flight was before waving us by,adidas originals samba trainers; one man told us to shortcut by just ducking underneath the tapes but I felt I had to ask everyone ahead of us just to play fair,adidas samao; It was the most simplest process you will have to do You get the work permit after they do the paper work They only need to see proof of the $4000 cad either on a printed bank statement or in cash You hand them the "WHP ELECTRONIC LETTER OF INTRODUCTION" which you should have recieved already from your embassy after paying your fee I entered via land from the USA They of course check your Passport and do there thing while you wait I was in the country within 15 minutes of arriving at the border Going Via air i am sure its the same process just show them the letter at customs and they will do there thing
The letter states
"Express Service: If you are entering Canada through Vancouver International Airport please keep this letter visible and proceed directly to the Immigration Corridor in the Voluntary Compliance Area This service is currently only available at Vancouver International Airport Ask airport staff should you need help "

To be covered by insurance you will need to purchase travel insurance before you leave It states that you need to be covered for Insurance to enter on the WHP but they never checked mine Health insurance was more expensive for me to purchase in Canada then back home I would definitely buy travel Insurance before you leave as it usually is cheaper
I bought basic travel insurance to cover me if i travelled that way if any of my luggage got lost during my time in Canada then it was covered You don't get that with normal health insurance Then i am also covered by dental and medical as well in case any accidents happen

That's why I want to ask where I can buy insurance for that purpose

if you work for a legitimate employer then you will be covered by the federal WorkCover system if you have a work-related accident you should purchase travel insurance to last a few months into your stay in Canada as if you have a non work-related injury it is very expensive to visit a hospital in North america After that you may be eligible to apply for the provincial health services plan (in British Columbia it is called the BC Health Plan or Medical Services Plan (MSP) ) which is significantly cheaper than travel insurance However if you are only planning to work here temporarily just stick with the travel insurance for the whole time and make sure it covers comprehensive medical insurance
as for how easy it is to get a job offer in Canada how long is a piece of string. it all depends on what sort of jobs you are looking for how fussy you are and what qualifications you have It took me 3 months to get a job as an architect and before that I was working as a dishwasher and data entry clerk earning minimum wage

in fact i have bought medical insurance ( 1 year) and accident insurance ( 1 year cover non-work accident touchwoord) in my country Is it really needed to buy a travel insurance for a few months  cos I just want to buy 1 months of Travel insurance to cover my baggage at the beginning
frankly  i dont mind working as a housekeeping staff or waiter
i will stay in Toronto first  i hope i can work there for a half year after than I want to go to Montreal for visit

oh sorry you are right you don't need to buy travel insurance if you've already got the medical insurance covered be sure to read the fine print though and make sure it covers your exact specific situation (unless you've already done so of course)
Well it seems like you're not very fussy about working in hospitality or tourism those are the industries you will most likely get work in I would highly recommend NOT going through an agency like WWOOF or Global Travel and Co etc the reason being that you will get a more authentic experience of Canada by finding your own work and meeting real Canadians (as opposed to other travelers which whilst fun may not be what you're looking for) There are plenty of job sites on the internet and many hospitality places still accept walk-in applications Also if there is no salary don't even bother - otherwise you won't have an income and you still need to pay for things like going out and sightseeing etc
I've been in Vancouver for almost a year with my partner so I can't really say much about the east coast situation as I have no idea - maybe if you have some more specific questions I can answer them
