The best advice we can give for purchasing
new footwear is to never let a review (not even this one!) take the place of actually trying on your shoes. This review can tell you which shoes are best for hiking, which are best for water sports, and even which shoes were more comfortable for our testers, but this review cannot tell you which shoe will feel the best on
your foot! Footwear,
vintage nike sandals, unlike
Camping Stoves or
Water Filters is completely dependent upon your foot build, size, etc. The arch support some reviewers rave about can be a nuisance or even a painful feature for others. So stop by your neighborhood outdoor retail store or find an online retailer with a great return policy because while we can do most of your sandal homework for you, we still recommended you try before you buy.

In order to cut down on the overwhelming number of different sandals that are out there, we recommend defining your summer footwear needs before you even start looking. Consider if you are going to wear it off-road or on-road more. Will it get wet regularly? Many of the products we tested are marketed as
water shoes, but they all perform very differently in wet conditions. If you want a sandal primarily for hiking, you may have to trade out fashion for function. Will you regularly need more protection for your feet? Then maybe it is worth considering a close-toed instead of the more common open-toed model. The next portion of this article will walk you through choosing the right sandals for the activities you do most.
Choosing Your Activity
After dedicating the summer of 2015 to evaluating the products in this review, testers agreed that selecting your summer footwear based upon activity was the surest way to achieve sandal satisfaction. Almost all of the products tested shared many common features: relatively light weight,
shoe structure, water compatible,
nike sweat suits for toddlers, well ventilated,
nike acg slippers, and sticky tread. However, depending upon how each model performed in each category, we were inclined to make different activity recommendations. So, it would be wise to decide which metrics are most relevant to you and your activity, and focus on the models that performed the best in their respective areas.
What kind of shoes do you have now and what specific qualities do you wish you could have,
air force two shoes?
In addition, we have assigned each product to one of three use categories to help you find your most appropriate fit. They all fit in to at least one of these three activity categories: urban use, water activities,
cheap youth nikes, and hiking. Some of the models we wore fit in to more than one category, and one rare breed of sandal (our Editors' Choice winner) fit in to all of the above.

Urban Use
The urban category includes those folks who live in their sandals all day every day, primarily on paved surfaces. These ladies do everything, from grocery shopping to gardening to international travel, in these shoes. They want something comfortable,
nike running shoes for women sale, attractive, and light weight. Since stability is inherently less important on smooth, paved terrain, a
women's flip-flop might be another appropriate option for women who fit in to this use category. If a little more control and steadiness is preferred, then we recommend opting for one of the products in this review instead.
Several products we tested are good choices for people in this category. The
Chaco ZX/1 Unaweep and
Chaco ZX/2 Yampa, for example, were some of our best looking models and come in a variety of neutral colors. If you have a high arch, you may like the Yampa,
jordan 4 s, but most of our testers found the Unaweep (which doesn't come with a toe loop) to be significantly more comfortable. The
Merrell Enoki was another that was comfortable on mild terrain and had a very airy, lightweight feel. It wouldn't be our first choice for any sort of venture that required lots of trail miles, rock hopping, or water crossings, but it was one of our go-to shoes for urban travel. Its optional flip-flop feature was also quite nice. Hanging out at the beach, we loved being able to slip the shoe off and on with ease in flip-flop mode, then converted it back to sandal mode while walking down the boardwalk.

Last but not least, the
Teva Tirra was our top all-around performer and the winner of our Editors' Choice Award. It comes in neutral colors with flattering straps that make this shoe not only useful,
nike leather sneakers, but attractive as well. Its elegant looks are matched by its extremely comfortable and cushy footbed. Add in padded straps and easy adjustability and you have a shoe that is comfortable in any environment.
Our Editors' Choice winner was the only model that didn't trade its fashionable looks for functional performance.
Water Activities
Those searching for a water performing shoe should prioritize traction and water resistance. This includes beach goers, boaters, rafters, and anyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest. Improved performance means increased safety and confidence on wet surfaces. For increased comfort, a shoe that dries faster is appreciated. We recommend the
Teva Hurricane XLT - Women's as a good water shoe as it has good traction and the hearty straps feel super secure. The straps don't dry particularly fast, but they also don't leave a lingering feeling of clamminess while they retain water. The Teva Tirra and
Columbia Sunbreeze are also good contenders as they both have excellent traction and dry in no time. Unfortunately, like the rest of the open-toed models, these three models don't offer much in terms of foot protection.

We recommend the
Keen Whisper and
Keen Newport H2 - Women's with a few reservations; however, they are the only models we tested that offer foot-top coverage, a quality that some really appreciate for water activities. Both models are easy to adjust and are designed for water wear. The Newport has much better traction than the Whisper, but the Whisper dried in almost half of the time of the Newport. The Whisper has a more slender foot bed than the Newport,
slides shoes nike, but most of our testers found the Newport to be more comfortable. All in all, the only real similarity between these Keens is their foot protection, so be sure to explore both models if this is a brand you're keen on. Hah, get it?

Hiking
Women looking for a sandal primarily for trail use demand slightly different performance characteristics. Ideally, a sandal would have the performance capabilities of a hiking shoe, but would also offer more versatile and a lighter weight. It should excel on all kinds of terrain and be packable. No surprise, the Teva Tirra fits into this use group. It feels incredibly secure not only because it has such good traction, but because its straps are so ergonomic and sturdy as well. Users didn't notice any chafing or sliding when wearing the Tirra on steep surfaces. What's more is that its open-toed design means that debris can fall more easily out of the shoe instead of collect beneath your foot. The Columbia Sunbreeze is also recommended, particularly when weight is a consideration. It is ideal for use as a climbing descent shoe or a backpacking camp shoe. The only downside to the Sunbreeze's weight is that it sometimes feels a little flimsy since it is so light. This sandal also has the potential to be limiting for individuals with particularly narrow feet. That said, it's hard to beat close-toes models when it comes to hiking.
Although not the "standard" summer footwear look, close-toed models - like our Top Pick for Adventure Travel, the Keen Newport H2 - can be particularly useful for individuals who want to hike a lot in their sandals. The following section provides more information on the pros and cons of close-toed construction.
Foot Protection & Close-Toed Construction
In addition to considering what activities you'll do when wearing your sandals,
acg nike boots for men, you may also want to think about how much protection you think you'll need. Rocky terrain increases the need for more coverage, but so does individual clumsiness and/or confidence on steep and rocky terrain. Sun protection is another perk to having a shoe with more coverage. Unsightly toes or an unfortunate foot tattoo could be other acceptable reasons. Whatever the need, close-toed models are the best option for people who want more coverage. The Keen Whisper and Newport were the only close-toed options we tested. The added security of their additional fabric made some of our less agile testers more comfortable off-road, whereas others simply enjoyed their hiking shoe functionality but with increased ventilation. The Newport comes with Keen's foot bumper technology; which protects against stubbed toes, but also means that you have a particularly bulky toe box. Both Keens made testers feel comfortable on a broader range of terrain than their open-toed cousins.
Even on seemingly frictionless terrain, the Newports didn't disappoint. They were also excellent on sandy or muddy terrain as their cinch closure system allowed them to be securely attached to the foot.

The biggest down side to close-toed products is that they are open enough to allow debris to enter the footbed, but closed enough to not let it get out. This means frequent breaks to stop and clear out the amazing amount of pebbles and twigs that seem to collect between your foot and the footbed. The open-toed models are even worse at keeping out debris than the close-toed versions, however their open construction is such that the debris can just as easily fall out. The extra fabric on the Keens also made them slightly heavier than the open-toed models when dry, and significantly heavier when wet. The only other possible downside to these shoes is that they are deceptively protective. They are a more protective option than open-toed models but are definitely no substitute for
hiking boots or
shoes.
