The first man to ascend Torreys Peakwas a local botanistCharles C Parry in 1869 On this day a crew from the Vail valley made a successful attempt at skiing and riding the legendary peak I left my house at 4:30 in the morning its been a while since I have been up that early By 6:30am we were leaving the trailhead heading into the unkown…

We hiked snowshoed and skinned into the Torrey’s Peak drainage The views were amazing we had ample time to spot our lines from the valley floor as we started to gain the ridge Brett George on the Torreys Peak approach Photo Mike Hardaker | Mountain Weekly News
After seeing the potential lines I decided my my goal for the day was to ride the “Dead Dog Coulouir” Now keep in mind at the time I didn’t have a mountaineering gear axes or crampons so we opted to hike up the shoulder between Grays and Torreys Peak instead of climbing up the center of the coulouir which would have been a much more direct route and surely would have saved us some time on the approach

After 6 hours of climbing and scrambling we found ourselves standing atop Torreys Peak

Now it was time for a little Avalanche talk before we descended 2500 feet to the valley floor The newly formed cornice has 1-2 feet thick so we cut it off with a rope and nothing moved aside from a little sluff which was to be expected on a slope of this degree Cornice Cutting on Torreys Peak Photo Mike Hardaker | Mountain Weekly News
Just to be safe we then hooked one of the guys up to a rope and sent him over the edge to do a ski cut We wanted to be extra safe with the all the fresh snow we were about to ride Honestly it was a bit of a surprise for all of us to see mid winter condtions in early May at 14000 feet Torreys Peak Photo Mike Hardaker | Mountain Weekly News
Our ski cut didn’t get any results the group felt confident and we began to ski and ride the slope one at a time

The turns looked amazing from the top full on AK style blower pow The guys weaved there way down the rocks chutes and powder going fall line down Torrey’s I had another line in mind the “Dead Dog Couloir” when I got to the top of the line it was untracked not a single blemish Just waiting for me to lay down my art on the slope I dropped in ski cut the the side nothing moved and proceeded to fly down the mountain I say fly as I only made about 6-8 turns down the entire face The snow was perfect.或合并通过 DirectX 12 引入的最新功能。 and should you run a more stripped-down setup,

Jay LPosted on August 28 2015Cool watchThis watch is pretty awesome I got it to help pace myself for my first half marathon and also track some activity on a backpacking trip I was going on I got the watch a week before the trip and used it to track some practice hikes that were only an hour or two long The battery life was good and I didn't have to recharge it all week So before I left on the trip I charged the watch to full and left the charging cable behind To my surprise after the first hike (approx 4 hours) tracking with the Run function my watch was down to around 50% That was really surprising and disappointing I'm not sure what caused that I know that the GPS does drain the battery a bit more but maybe being in such a remote location had something to do with it I definitely don't have any battery issues when just wearing the watch and using the smart phone functions or even tracking shorter runs (30min-1hour) at home I've probably gone the last 6 days without charging and tracking my runs for the week (about 23 miles or 3 hours) and have 40% battery left I used the swim function once which seems to track my distance accurately I'm not sure about the other stuff it tracks so won't speak to that One thing that I did notice but maybe it's because I added a protective skin is that when the surface is wet and my fingers are wet it's tough to use the touch screen The watch as a pacer has been excellent I was able to learn to pace myself for longer runs and even set a PR for my half marathon (I've only run 1 ever so of course it'll be my PR) Connecting to Garmin connect (iphone 6) was pretty easy and there are a few other widgets and stuff that you can add It takes a little to figure out but overall pretty simple if you spend a few minutes to really try to figure it out I was also able to connect Garmin Connect with Strava and Nike + it adds current information pretty much instantaneously as long as you sync it to Connect first At first my history did transfer over but after a few days most of my history showed up I don't think all my runs transferred but after accepting no history being synced I was happy that most of my old runs showed up in Strava and Nike + Overall this watch has been really good and the stats that it tracks has helped me become a smarter runner when it comes to long distances I tried tracking my hockey games with the run function but that hasn't worked out too well Not that I expected it to either though I just wanted to see what my max pace would be I don't know the difference between the run and walk function either I've used the treadmill function once and the tracking was different than what showed on the treadmill Treadmill showed 1 mile but the watch only tracked 69 miles I've started to run outdoors more so haven't many chances to try the treadmill again The smart functions work well I only pay attention to my calendar notifications weather I had a pebble before and essentially has the same functions for notifications in terms of reading them but you wont be able to dismiss them either Jennleigh WGearheadPosted on August 24 2015Example of a different watch faceThere are many you can choose from within the app I liked this one personally Jennleigh WGearheadPosted on August 24 2015So much wow on my wristI did a lot of researching before I sunk down the money on a smart watch I wanted something that would work for the phone I have now iPhone 6 but could also work with an android phone should I choose to change phones This suited my needs The app makes this very simple and set up is a breeze The initial charge is pretty substantial so you can wear it straight out of the box And when you do need to charge it up it charges very quickly The watch can be customized to your desires with changing the watch face Its touch screen is simple to use and a swipe of the finger changes you between your various options It's really nice that you can read this in all types of lighting as well from bright daylight to night time with the back light Connecting to my phone is nice and simple and it's sweet being able to see texts emails calendar calls and social media all on my wrist without having to pull out my phone It's also cool that you can turn that off by shutting down the app in your phone The sleep function is pretty cool because it's allowed me to get a better feel for how I'm really sleeping at night and on days where I wake up feeling less rested I can see if it was due to limited time sleeping or just restless sleep I wish that it was an automatic sense of when you sleep since you can set the time frame you generally sleep in but it is simple to enter sleep mode The GPS feature that tracks your activities like biking is really cool When it uploads into the phone you can get all sorts of stats about your workout that other programs don't always give Pretty cool to see your progression in gaining strength or speed over a period of time The one downfall I wish that could be adjusted is how sensitive the pedometer is I've noticed that while driving (since I have a manual transmission) it tends to count steps for me As well as when I do other things around the house like brushing my teeth Spencer OliphantPosted on August 2 2015Avg ride time: 17m per weekUpgrade from the VivosmartI upgraded from the Vivosmart because I wanted a watch with GPS The interface could use some updates but overall this watch is excellent I love that I was able to order a leather (likely a bonded leather) band to put with it fairly cheap When you want your running / biking watch to tell you when you have notifications on your phone too I recommend this Battery life beats comparable watches and it looks good too Austin RobbinsPosted on July 30 2015Do you know the timesThe size of the watch makes it great for any activity Big enough to see the time and the data you want but not too big to get in the way while getting rad knowing when to show up fashionably late Austin RobbinsPosted on July 19 2015Estoy VivoI was looking for a computer to track my bike rides and being a big fan of watches the Garmin Vivoactive is the perfect way to keep track of what I do I was really just interested in the fact that I could track my bike rides which was the reason I bought the Vivoactive but now that I have it I am finding more and more things that it can do everyday It tracks my bike rides counts my steps helps me with my walking goals tells me to move when I've been inactive monitors my sleeping patterns can alert me of notifications on my phone and also syncs up with my Strava account so I can make sure all my friends know that I only ride 4 miles on my bike The Vivoactive is super solid feels sturdy and is made for the long haul It's the simple things that make the watch so great With just two actual buttons and the rest being a touchscreen the watch is easy to use navigate and see while tracking activities or reading text messages The battery last a surprisingly long time even while in tracking mode and charges super fast for when it finally does get low I love how it uses a magnetic base for charging so you don't have to fumble around with a port If you want a Garmin computer with the ability to
