- Our brand new selkirk rex male arrived to our home in March, 2005. His name is Badabang, and we hope he will present us so many curly babies in the future:-)
 
- 2004. 12. We have succeeded in getting our first
(not only for us, but as we know it is also unique in
Hungary) Selkirk Rex cat. I hope it will be a real surprise
for anyone who loves cats.

Selkirk Rex standard
The creation of the Selkir was done by the spontanous mutation of a dominant gene, which shows itself in wavy or curly features in certain specimen. It may appear from the medium sized to big cats, with strong bones. It is also paired with exceptionally high weights, giving the type the kind of strong appearance. The tomcats are more massive than the female ones but it must not be a bad characteristic of the appearance. They have an active, friendly and amable personality.

Head: the skull is round and wide both the female and the male cats have this feature. The whole cat creates the image of a round cat.
Nose: It is of average width, the length of the nose lies at half of the face. Looking at its profile, the small nose is acceptable, with a nice bend or stop.
Chin: Strong, well-developed, it has to be in accordance with the rest of the face
Eyes: Huge, round eyes, far from each other, almond-eyes are not appropriate, or oval. If we face the cat, the eyes should lie on the front horizon.
Body: From medium sized to big, strong, masculined body. The back slightly rise and need a slight bend as well. The shoulders and the waist need to be the same.
Legs: Medium sized, with strong bones
Feet: Huge, round, strong paws.
Tail: medium massive, and in harmony with the body. Wide at the body and may not end in a peak.
Fur: It is nice and soft, massive, curly or wavy. How cury or wavy the certain specimen is, depends on the lenght of the fur and also on the sex and age. It is more desirable to have curlier fur on the area of the stomach, neck and tail. It may appear with longer or shorter fur as well.
Colour: All kinds of genetic colour is acceptable, or the combination of these. The colour of the eyes may be copper, gold, yellow or green, though different colours in the case of white cats is also fine. The colour of the eyes finely complete the colour of the fur.
