The pensioner was interviewed by?the BBC journalist who made her famous, and he showed her just how far her comments had spread.

A Falmouth University spokesman said: “The vice-chancellor and chief executive’s salary and performance related pay are determined by the Remuneration Committee of the University’s Board of Governors,Kicksokok.com.
“The vice-chancellor is not party to discussions regarding her own salary. The compensation is a reflection of the continued growth and success of the University, against the stretching targets set out in our strategic plan.
“Falmouth University’s Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education score has risen for four consecutive years, and show 97 per cent of our graduates are in work or further education six months after graduating.?
“Our National Student Survey scores have risen 9 points in the past four years.”

An increasing number of universities are awarding performance-related pay or bonuses as part of their remuneration packages for vice-chancellors, experts have said as some predict even more pay hikes.

'Double standards'
However, Sally Hunt, general secretary of the University and College Union (UCU), disagreed.
She said: “The blatant double standards in university pay are a disgrace, and are being felt acutely by staff across the sector.
"Despite clear calls from government for pay restraint at the top, vice-chancellors have enjoyed bumper pay rises of over five per cent on average while increases for rank and file staff are held down at barely a quarter of that.
“Average pay increases should match those enjoyed by vice-chancellors, but instead the majority of academic staff have seen the value of their pay fall by 14.5 per cent?in six years, while job insecurity is rife and there has been little progress on the gender pay gap.
The 1.1 per cent?pay offer does nothing to address these issues, so it is no wonder that people are saying enough is enough and backing strike action.
“Universities need to answer some hard questions about how they will continue to attract and retain the best talent when pay is being held down and hardworking staff are receiving such poor reward for their efforts.”
