Ever since we decided to vacation in Aruba, I knew that I had to see two things: Flamingo Beach and the Natural Pool (look for a separate blog on that soon!). I scoured every blog I could find. Although I really wanted to go, the price of admission was pricier than what The Common Traveler usually does on vacation and there was a chance we couldn’t even get an admission ticket. I’m changing that for you – read on to find out the NO-FAIL TIP on how to guarantee admission!

The Renaissance hotel owns a private island featuring two beaches: Flamingo Beach and Iguana Beach. Flamingo Beach is for adults only, while Iguana Beach is for all ages. You can only get to this island by taking a short boat ride from the Renaissance hotels – either from inside the lobby of the Renaissance Marina hotel or at a dock at the Renaissance Oceanside hotel. Flamingos have been living in Aruba for years. Approximately 15 years ago a flamboyance of flamingos (it’s really called like that) made their home on the Renaissance Private Island, living on the beach and mingling with visitors. It wasn’t until around 3 years ago when the island became popular and its pink inhabitants started rocking Instagram. So here’s how to visit the Flamingo beach in Aruba. Pictures of Flamingo Beach on Aruba regularly cause a storm online. Well, where else in the world can you lie on the fine, white sands of a dreamy Caribbean beach while watching pink flamingos gather in small groups by the edge of the glistening, turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea? Exactly, nowhere! I’m going to tell you how to get to the most sought-after island in Aruba and why this very special beach should definitely be on your bucket list! However, I don’t actually recommend counting on getting the day pass. You can’t pre-book day passes and you need to come to the reception in the morning to find out about availability. Renaissance Hotel doesn’t always sell the passes in order not to make the island too overcrowded. So if the hotel is fully booked, non-guests aren’t able to buy the passes.

The private island which is owned by the Renaissance Hotel is called the Renaissance Island, and like any island, it features pristine beaches, beautiful palm trees and an array of tropical wildlife.

But the island's main feature is it's Flamingo Beach, where guests can stroll the beach with it's six flamingos that are native to the island.

The island is just a 8 minute water taxi trip away from the hotel, where alongside the beach you can dine at a bar and grill or pamper yourself at the private spa.
