Hydrolysis causes the formation of ammonium. Ammonium forms salts with acids in the soil and is further oxidized to nitrous and nitric acids. Nitrites are formed by the participation of bacteria in the genus Nitrosomonas. and under the influence of nitrobacter Nitrite is converted to nitrate.
