Last summer I really got more into wearing a hair scarf. Being able to just sweep your hair up fast and still look put together was really important to me, especially as we spent five days on a sailboat in Croatia with limited space. It was also pretty hot, so wearing my hair up was a priority. After a few failed experiments, I found 4 easy hair scarf styles for summer that really work. And the best part (aside from looking pretty cute) is that they take one minute or less to do!I used two different hair scarves for these styles. The first hair scarf is your standard square bandana and the second is a long silky scarf I’ve had for many years. I just wanted to show that any scarf will work for your hair. Make sure to have a hair tie on hand, too. This set is my favorite ouch-less brand. The trick to making this easier is to start with your hair in a low ponytail. I prefer a center part but you can do a side part with this style, too. See more of this style in this blog post!Start by pulling hair into a low ponytail. Take your long scarf (or square scarf folded into a half triangle and then rolled) and lay it on top of your head where you would wear a headband. Bring ends behind your head and under the ponytail and make a bow.

This style feels like cheating. It’s just a basic ponytail with a scarf accessory, but it always looks chic.Pull hair into a low ponytail (or go mid to high, any of which will work).Take your bandana scarf and fold it into a half triangle then roll it.Tie your bandana around your hairband and secure with a double knot.Leave the bandana ends to hang with your hair.Pull hair up into a high top knot.Bring your scarf from the back under the topknot to the front and tie it once to secure. Bring your scarf ends behind your topknot and cross the ends so that they wrap the topknot. Do this lightly to build some volume in your style. Bring the ends back to the front and tie them again. You can leave the ends loose or tuck them into your topknot.

Is there anything more darling than the hair scarf trend? It took me a while to jump on the bandwagon, but now I wear hair scarves at least a few times a week. They add an extra element of style to even the most casual outfits. Want to dress up your t-shirt and jean shorts look? Add a hair scarf. Wearing a dress that’s a little too fancy for your outing? A cotton gingham hair scarf will bring it down at least three notches. The trick is to own a variety of general hair scarves (in neutral colors and patterns) as well as a few fun ones that you can use on occasion. Here are some of my favorite inspo photos! If you scroll to the bottom, I’ve added in details about how to actually use hair scarves as well as some of my favorite affordable ones from Amazon, Target, and a few other stores.

These bands are made out of stretchy fabric and feature a colorful bow at the center. They're perfect for adding a little extra flair to any hairstyle and are sure to turn heads wherever you go.
