You may know that speed, torque and power are enough to choose the best electric motor, but here are 19 important factors that will help you choose it:

Voltage: For a standard home voltage of 220 volts, you will need a single-phase electric motor, and for an industrial voltage (380 volts) you will need a three-phase. Typically, three-phase alternators are cheaper and more widely used in industry.
Current: The frequency of electricity in Iran is 50 Hz and you must select the appropriate alternator. The frequency is 50 Hz in most European countries and 60 Hz in North America.
Output torque: You have to calculate how much torque you will have in the worst case, and if the torque is high, use an electric motor suitable for high torque or an industrial gearbox on its way.
Speed: Do you need a constant speed during the operation of the electric motor, or is it important that the motor is fixed or slows down at times? In this case, you will need a brake motor.
Power: The amount of power required for the electric motor is one of the important selection parameters. This parameter is measured in kilowatts or horsepower.
Operating cycle: If your electric motor runs intermittently, that is, between each start of the motor, when the motor is off to cool down, you can use a smaller alternator compared to a permanent type of operation.
Life cycle: For a permanent electric motor, which is supposed to run for thousands of non-stop hours, an AC or Brushless motor with a longer life may be used, and for the low-power type, DC and Universal motors will be suitable.
Special application: In some applications, such as the food industry, it is necessary to use stainless steel. Or a dust and waterproof protective alternator may be required. There is a suitable type for each of these special cases. This feature is listed as IP on the electric motor.
Frame size and configuration: Sometimes a compact electric motor is required due to space constraints. Therefore, paying attention to the installation location will be one of the factors influencing its selection.
Ambient temperature and installation height above sea level: Ambient temperature and installation altitude above sea level has a direct effect on the output power and working health of the electric motor.
Where to use: Sparking each time the alternator starts can cause a disaster. The location of the electric motor will also play a special role in its selection. For example, in mines and places with flammable gases, explosion-proof electric motors, anti-spark motors or fire engines are used.
