Bartholin cysts, small fluid-filled sacs near the vaginal opening, can cause discomfort and raise questions about their origin. While they are often benign, understanding the causes sheds light on their development.

These cysts arise when the Bartholin glands, responsible for lubricating the vagina, become obstructed. The obstruction can stem from various factors, such as bacterial infections, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), or trauma to the glandular ducts. Hormonal changes, skin conditions, or an overgrowth of bacteria in the genital area may also contribute to cyst formation.

It's important to note that what causes bartholin cyst
are typically not preventable, and their occurrence doesn't necessarily indicate an underlying serious condition. If a cyst becomes painful or infected, seeking medical attention is advisable. Understanding the causes allows individuals to take proactive steps in maintaining their genital health and seeking timely medical guidance if needed.
