Chapter 19. CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0

Mobile technology is moving fast. When the original CLDC and MIDP specifications were created, the average mobile device lacked sound and color graphics and had a relatively slow CPU. Now there's a range of newer devices that offer a great deal more capability.

To accommodate the additional capabilities of this new breed, the original CLDC and MIDP standard were expanded to create CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0. In this chapter, you'll explore the features now available in the second generation, as well as how to integrate MIDP 2 into your development process.
