On Writing, Wording And Wallachian Wine:

It is quite needless to say, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, that I'm at least somewhat pleased with your playing performance so far. If I may be so bold to state, you do not all completely fail. All right, it's set to be a bloody good game.

However.

Given the historical nature of our humble chronicle, I think it stands to reason to finally provide some guidelines on the hows of phrasing itself. Obviously, lacking proper academic knowledge and authentic evidence, we're unable to fully reconstruct late-XIIth Century communication in English, something Richard "the Lionheart" himself didn't bother with either, by the way.
It's not even the aim of a roleplaying game to be an historical simulator, as it were, but to maximize immersion, which stems from a variety of factors, including historical atmosphere.

This atmosphere is what we're aiming to grab, which would be rather undermined by Ye Olde Middle English, most of which would be un-decodable for most players to begin with. That's why I never asked for such.
On the other hand, a fully modern type of phrasing and vocabulary would also take a swipe at said immersion, taking on the cynical stance of most modern "historical" films.

That's why I advocate a golden middle way, to which all of you have mostly kept yourselves even without saying. Try wording your posts, if possible, with phrases and grammar that have a delicate, old savour, the feeling, the atmosphere of times long gone, but while also not breaking your neck to look up literally medieval dictionaries. Victorian-era English, for example, is a rich and ample armoury of words to choose from without any danger of sounding overly modern.

The same goes for more concrete phrases, like prayers, battle cries, cursing, metaphors. Do you know of something fully authentic? Does it fit? Use it! But if you don't (some details of everyday life in the 1100s not even historians would be able to tell), don't stress yourself, pick something that "sounds old", that you think would be believable and fitting for the chronicle and its setting, and voilá.
Be creative, immerse yourselves in your characters as fully as possible, and modern terms won't even slip onto your minds!

Whenever you roll a 10 that isn't eliminated by a 1 in the same roll, you're entitled to continuing to roll with that die as long as it keeps being 10. Subsequently rolled 1s don't subtract from your success pool.
You can select a specialization on any talent, skill or knowledge with a score of at least 1, or main attribute with a score of at least 4, giving you an extra die on related rolls.

The exceptions from under the rule of tens and ones are initiation, damage and soaking rolls.
