This is a shot of the Darracq as it was raced at Daytona. The induction pipe from the carbs now extends along a tube which is resting (or clamped) to the exhaust pipes. My reading of this is that the cold weather both at Arles and at Daytona forced a rethink on the carburation. If they were using a high benzine fuel then icing of the carb and induction tract would have been a problem.

This is a shot of the Darracq as it was for Saltburn Sands. The induction pipe from the carbs now extends along a tube which encapsulates the four exust pipes. Obviously the longer pipe just did not impart enough heat to the induction, so by encapsulating the pipes in this way they have forced a higher heating of the incoming charge.
