DB 194 / ÖBB 1020

The production of class 194 for the German railways has
begun in 1940 by AEG. Originally it was built to carry freight trains,
but when the II World War
began, it's class was modified to electric war locomotive nº 1.
After the war, 44 engines were left in Austria, and these locos have
gotten to the Austrian Railways (ÖBB). The company gave them the class
number 1020. In West-Germany 124 engines were left, while the
east-germans had 30 locomotives, but in East-Germany 10 of these
locomotives have been shot or nearly destroyed. In March of 1946 the
Russians stopped all kinds of electric rail system, and set them to
diesel functioning that's why the Germans sent 25 of the class 194 to
Russia.
