Class 101-German universal locomotive

On the 1st of July in 1996 the engine 101 001 was presented by DB (Deutsche Bahn) and ADtranz officially to the publicity in Kassel.
ADtranz was the issue of ABB, that fusioned with AEG. Until May 1999 many engines were delivered to DB. Sometimes even 11 engines were delivered, because the DB had necessity of the young engines. Already at the change of the schedule in 1997 the engines transported trains. In 1997 10 of the delivered 16 engines worked already. After a year, the DB had 96 machines of class 101. The locomotives of the class 101 reached many parts of Germany,  also Padborg at the Danish border. In the South they reached Venlo, at the border Germany / Netherlands. In Switzerland, Basel (SBB) they had to give their train to swiss locomotives, because the overhead cable is hung up otherwise.
