Introduction
Our pedagogical services support parents and educational institutions in the following areas: - Special pedagogical counseling, early development and care
- Learning skills assessment, rehabilitation services
- Education counseling
- Logopedic services
- Career advisory
- Conductive pedagogy
- Special physical education
Education counseling: Its aim is to provide services for children with problems of integration into community, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Our services include assessment, correction, therapy and the provision of an official report. Parents and teachers are involved in the process. The Siklós Education Counseling is part of this system within the Baranya County Pedagogical Institution. Parents and teachers may come to us with any of the following needs: a) To assess children before starting school (school maturity)b) To obtain release from school preparation coursesc) In various cases of problems of integration or adjustment to community, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. The assessment of integration and behavioral problems is initiated by parents, educational institutions or family protection or care taking authorities. Parents have to take the child to education counseling if the child did not attend kindergarten in the year of reaching compulsory school age to assess basic skills. Parents of children with physical, sensory, cognitive, or speech problems are advised to go to the rehabilitation committee. Our services are available to: - Parents (written request is needed)

To widen our local scope of activity we have been reaching out to the educational institutions of the region since January 2003. Our building is situated in the heart of the town, two minutes walk from the bus station which is an ideal location for the children in the region. An annual “Introduction and Forum” is held for our partners, providing an interactive opportunity for everyone to get to know us. A child education conference series was launched in 2003 called “Globalised Child”.The second conference entitled “Children in Arts and the Media” was organized together with the Villány Family Support Services. 137 people attended the conference including Croatian, American, German and Ukrainian guests. Our Christmas book collection for children and Luca Day playhouse was also a great success. Our “Child Art Gallery” gives a continuous platform for talented children of the region to display their creative works. We also participated in the Siklós Town Children’s Day in the spring. The third child education conference called “Globalised Extremes” is being prepared, taking place in April 2007. The opening speech will be given by Dr Popper Péter.
