| One of the distinctions you could use would be hard news and soft news. Hard news broadly includes breaking news. So-called soft news refers to feature stories and human interest pieces. For instance, in the case of a flood, a hard news article would cover the details of the flood as soon as the story breaks, how many people were injured, extent of the damage, official comment from emergency services. A feature piece could focus on the personal stories of the families affected, and how they are rebuilding their lives. |
