Fast ballistic fiber farming in Fallout 76: hit Camp McClintock and Fort Defiance for ammo bags and military duct tape, scrap in bulk at a workbench, and check vendor bots for bulk ballistic fiber.
Nothing ruins a good scrap run like that ugly crack when your armor gives up mid-fight. You can be swimming in steel and adhesive, then suddenly you're stuck because ballistic fiber's gone again. After a while you stop "looking for ballistic fiber" and start hunting the right junk: Military Ammo Bags and Military Grade Duct Tape, full stop. If you're short and don't feel like grinding all night, I've even seen players top up essentials through trading sites like EZNPC, especially when they're trying to keep a build online without pausing to farm every single repair.
What You're Actually Picking Up
A lot of folks waste time looting anything that looks military and then wonder why their stash is clogged and their fiber count barely moves. Don't do that. Prioritize ammo bags and that grey-green military tape, and treat everything else as optional. When you're clearing a room, check bunks, lockers, desks, and the little side tables people sprint past. You'll notice the good stuff tends to sit in boring spots, not center stage. If you're running perks that reduce junk weight, this becomes even easier, because you can stay on route longer before you have to bail out.
Easy Runs: Camp McClintock
When I want a low-drama loop, I go to Camp McClintock. It's consistent, it's fast, and you're not usually burning through half your ammo to get in and out. Do a full sweep of the main building first, then hit the barracks like you mean it. Slow down and actually look on shelves and near footlockers. You'll often walk out with enough scraps to patch up a couple pieces and still feel like the trip was worth it, even if someone's already been through recently.
Big Hauls: Fort Defiance and a Bonus Chain
If you need serious volume, Fort Defiance is the play, but you've got to be ready for it. The enemies can be obnoxious, and the building layout loves to trap you when you get careless. The upside is those upper floors can be loaded with ammo bags if you're thorough. After Defiance, I like to extend the route instead of fast traveling home right away: swing toward The Thorn, then peek at Cranberry Bog firebase spots, Watoga crash sites, and random survey camps. You won't always hit the jackpot, but the tape rolls you snag along the way stack up quicker than you'd expect.
Scrap Smart, Restock Faster
The biggest self-own is selling the good junk by accident or letting it sit unsorted until you forget what you picked up. When you get back to camp or your tent, dump everything, hit "Scrap all junk," then use component view to confirm your ballistic fiber count before you head out again. If you're tired or just want the no-combat option, vendor bots at Whitespring sometimes carry bulk ballistic fiber, and server hopping can speed that up; if you'd rather keep playing than shopping, mixing in a caps-based shortcut like Fallout 76 Bootle Caps can help you fund bulk buys without derailing your whole session. |
