Photographs of a
sea eagle carrying a new born lamb in its talons have reignited the long-running feud between farmers and conservationists over the hugely successful reintroduction of Britain’s biggest bird of prey.
The rare raptors have been the subject of a reintroduction programme in different parts of Scotland, most recently on the east coast, since 1975.
However,
jordans for cheap, farmers and crofters claim they are now
taking large numbers of lambs in the Highlands and Islands.
The latest photograph of a sea eagle – nicknamed flying doors because of their massive wingspan - was taken as it flew over North Connel, Argyll and Bute.
Colin Cameron, a Lochaber farmer, said he had lost lambs over the years to sea eagles, and described a recent incident in which one lamb was killed and another was left with “a hole in its side”.
He said: “It is still alive as I had to feed it through a tube three times a day. It is on penicillin to stop any infection so I can't let it outside but generally we don't find any alive.
"The numbers of these birds are increasing and it's a major issue now, not just at lambing but all through the summer."
