Friday, I sat in with students immersed in the immigration and criminal justice clusters. The youngest was 20, the oldest 68.
One, Andra Racovitan, impressed me with her fascination with immigration law. She was 10 when she and her mother came to America from Romania. They spoke no English,cheap retro jordans, but her mom knew “this would be a great opportunity,cheap jordans for sale,” Racovitan said.
Now 25, Racovitan earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2012 and started law school last fall.
She and other students read and discussed Enrique’s Journey, the best-selling book about a teenage boy from Honduras who traveled from his hometown of Tegucigalpa to the U.S. to be reunited with his mother.
They also visited the Dallas office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where one of their mentors, Paul Hunker, works as chief counsel.
For a first-year law student, this is heady, eye-opening stuff.
