APPEAL
To all those who are connected by River Danube geographically, culturally or otherwise.
To everybody bound to the 'Hungarus Community' and to all the Friends of Hungarian Culture.
The Society of the Friends of Old Hungarian Culture is proud to present
DANUBE DAY CELEBRATION
on 22nd July, 2004
on the Vigadó Embankment of the Danube in Budapest.
On the anniversary of the Battle of Nándorfehérvár (July 12-22, 1456) we remember the role of Hungarian navigation
("the royal shipmen") in the events between 1st July and 29th August, 1521.
With the Danube Day Celebration and the accompanying events we would like to raise public awareness of the present condition of the Danube and its environments, the importance of safeguarding them and flood-prevention measures as well as to all those individuals whose fate depends on the Danube. We also remember the victims of the river.
