Society of the Friends of Old Hungarian Culture

In our 20th year.

ANNOUNCEMENT

to all the people connected geographically, culturally or in any other ways by the Danube river, all belonging to the "Hungarus Community" and all the friends of old Hungarian culture.

We shall remember together

on July 21-23, 2006
on the

4th DANUBE DAY CELEBRATION

the 550th anniversary of the Battle of Nandorfehervar (July 12-22, 1456)
on the Vigado Embankment alongside the Danube in Budapest.

The name of the event is symbolic. In the heart of the events are the programs introducing the memories of the common human history, the shared cultural and religious traditions.

Through this event our society wants to raise public awareness to the current condition of the Danube and other rivers, waters and their environment; and we also would like to raise the attention to the importance of protecting the rivers and their environment; we also celebrate our one-time shipmen, the royal navy,  and the events of 1 July-29 August, 1521, and all the others.
We would like to call the public's attention to the work of those related to the rivers and to those fallen victim to them.
