NOTICE

to the peoples of Europe, and those anywhere in the world connected geographically, culturally or in any other way to the River Danube; to everyone belonging to the 'Hungarus Community' and all the friends of Hungarian culture

LET US COMMEMORATE TOGETHER

the 551st anniversary of the Battle of Nándorfehérvár in 1456
at the 5th Danube Day Celebration
being held on the Vigadó Embankment in Budapest
on 20th - 22nd July 2007

The name of this event is a symbolic one in many respects, as these programs are intended to commemorate the events essential to the history of humanity, and to display the heritage of religious and cultural communities, as well as the values important for environmental protection. By organising the Danube Day Celebration we would like to raise public awareness to the current condition of the Danube and other rivers, the waters and their environment. We want to draw public attention to the forgotten heritage of our forefathers, the 'royal sailors'; the events of 1st July - 29th August 1521; our sailors’ present situation; the workers and victims of the waters; all those whose fate is linked to the Danube and the waters of Hungary.
