For all those already participate or decide to join the Danube Day Commemoration.

The Danube Day Celebration marking this year the 554th anniversary of the 1456 Battle of Nandorfehervar on July 22 will be a wide-scale community celebration bringing together for a community event all those who participate, regardless of origin, faith, political or any other views that might distinct them. It gives a community experience to all those who, for a number of reasons, feel to be part of the communities bonded culturally within the region belonging to the Danube river and the Carpathian basin, and who share the ideals and values our celebration, the Danube Day event, embraces.

The commemoration has become by now an event uniting many participants and contributors since we first organized it in 2006, to mark the battle's 550th anniversary for the first time in that year.

At noon on July 22 each year fortresses and other heritage sites, cultural centre, local governments and civil groups, martial art clubs, religious groups and other communities, as well as ships hold their own commemoration and tell to their public about the day of remembrance in their own communities by their own ways of
       firing gun salutes
       tolling bells
       raising flags on castles, fortresses and buildings
       or, continuing with the traditional way,
       by observing a prayer or a church mess
       by letting bonfires and holding a march
       or in any other way

Next year, in 2011, we will celebrate the 555th anniversary of the historic battle. We should remember that there is only one such opportunity to mark the anniversary only once in every 1,000 year.

Our society, we, with our friends, have been working year by year to build an ever expanding cooperation for the commemoration. A coverage and footage about the commemoration by participants can be accessed at our website.

For all those who decide to join our commemoration our kind advise is to first take the "less is more" approach, which is to preferably choose an activity or event that can be organized in the easiest possible way, without running into too much complication.

The main idea is that all those who choose to participate should feel the particular activity or event dear to their heart and organized in cooperation with local communities and people, "building it up" together with them.
