at the 16th Danube Day Celebration
held on the Vigadó port in Budapest
Sunday, 22nd July,
2018
The name "Danube Day Celebration" is symbolic in many respects, as programs on this day aim to commemorate a significant event in history, as well as display the legacy of peoples, religious and cultural communities today, and the important memories of protecting nature and the environment. By organizing the Danube Day Celebration we would like to raise public awareness to the current condition of the Danube and other rivers, the waters and their environment. We want to draw public attention to the forgotten heritage of our forefathers, the ‘royal sailors’; the events on 1st July – 29th August in 1521, our sailors’ present situation, the workers and victims of the waters, all those whose fate is linked to the Danube and the waters.
