ImageShack.usSPITZERBERG, AUSTRIA: Europe’s Premier Vintage Event, Retroplane 2012 Set for 26-31 July RETROPLANE is a gathering focused on scale slope soaring, reserved for older models of gliders produced prior to 1960. That is, the time preceding the arrival of composite gliders. This meeting brings together building enthusiasts and fans of the original models. Think retro glider, machines built of wood and tube and canvas.
Registration opens on February 1, 2012 and available spots fill up quickly. When the limit is reached, no additional participants are permitted.
Each year RETROPLANE takes place in a different region or country, the 2012 edition will take place on the slope adjacent to the airfield in Spitzerberg Austria — approximately 50km east of Vienna. The flying site is of significant gliding history in Austria. Weather permitting, there may also be flying down the slope of Braunsberg which is about ten miles from camp.
Event participants will be greeted by Flugsportzentrum Spitzerberg - and Wolfgang Decker and Walter Wachtler , who coordinate the organization.
The weekend meeting will be on 28 and 29 July 2012. The full event runs 26-31 July. As every year organizers suggest participants arrive a few days before and stay after a few days from those dates to organize other days of flight. Of course, depending on the weather.
Retroplane benefits from camping on the airfield from Wednesday, July 25 to Wednesday, August 1, 2012. During this week, it is only permissable to fly Retro gliders. No flights or other RTF foam inside the camp and the slope. Evening or morning when the breezes and winds are not yet established, there will be towing. The schedule will be posted each day at camp, depending on the weather
RETROPLANE is a meeting for fun – no competitive spirit.
The spirit of the game …
· Focus on the integrity of the models
· Meet friends followers of traditional construction and retro model glider
· Fill up the best pictures and videos
· Living together in the camp of good moments of conviviality
