The company, upholding its short- and mid-term targets for China despite the economic slowdown, has already charted out its expansion plans for the next six years, said Jope, adding that the company sees strong signs of economic recovery in the country, which has benefited from the Chinese government's stimulus package.

Unilever plans to set up a third-party manufacturing base in Sichuan Province to grow its business in west China. In addition, the company also aims to list its China assets on the Shanghai Stock Exchange when Chinese regulators change the rules to allow multinational companies to list domestically, as analysts say they are likely to do in the near future.

Unilever last year generated sales of RMB 10 billion in China.
