China, Kazakh unveil natural gas pipelinePublished: 13 Dec 2009 16:57:00 PST<p class="authorInfor"]</p]<!--begin CK content--]<ul class="narrow"]More From ChinaKnowledge.comChina Economy DataChina Business GuideChina DemographicChina Industrial ParksChina Financial Market<P]Dec. 14, 2009 (China Knowledge) - The 1,300-km Kazakh section of a natural gas pipeline, which is part of the Turkmenistan-China pipeline project, has been completed, sources reported. </P]<P]China's President Hu Jintao and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the inauguration ceremony in Astana on Saturday.</P]<P]The total investment of the Kazakh section was US$6.7 billion. It took over 4,000 workers about two years to complete the section. Reportedly, China Development Bank provided most of the finance for the project.</P]<P]The pipeline will be able to transport 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, said Kazakh state energy company KazMunaiGaz.</P]<P]The whole pipeline, which runs from a gas field in Turkmenistan to Xinjiang in West China, is about 7,000 km long and will be finished by 2013.</P]<P]<BR]</P]
