Originally, Microsoft Windows Script Host (WSH) didn't include any mechanism for preventing the execution of WSH scripts from untrusted sources. This led many users to mistakenly assume that you couldn't do anything to protect a system against infection from WSH script viruses. All 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems contain mechanisms (albeit not always foolproof or easy to use) to protect the system against accidental infection from e-mail attachments containing viruses. This appendix describes a few strategies for making WSH scripting more secure.
