Listeners are components that respond to specific events, triggering an action during the life of a build. A build process provides an automated method to generate and run applications. Loggers record information about the output of events to which listeners respond.
This chapter describes the built-in loggers and listeners that Ant provides. It also explains user-defined listeners and loggers.
Listeners respond to the occurrence of various events while a build is in progress. The events include starting and finishing a build process. The occurrence of the following events triggers various actions in listeners:
Build started
Build finished
Target started
Target finished
Task started
Task finished
Message logged
