this gig never took place. the band were scheduled to play Espace Ballad on the 23rd Feb. but this had to be re-sheduled to March 1st as a national lorry drivers strike blocked the trucks carrying the gear at Calais. Tickets stubs however stiff carry the 23rd date for a price of 80F which would have been about £6 at the time.

Clash in Knoxville, TN on March 28, 1984, at the Alumni Memorial Gym on the University of Tennessee campus.

Opening act was Tav Falco and the Panther Burns, a rockabilly band from Memphis. They were booed off the stage after just a song or two. The band also played a show in Nashville, but I'm not sure if it was before or after the Knoxville concert. Whichever one was earlier was the opening date for the tour.

Confirmed dates: Knoxville 27th, Nashville 28th from audience member.

I saw the Clash perform at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY when I was a mere 6th grader. That concert changed my life. I vaguely remember that it was a Sunday night in '83 or '84.

Back of British Home Stores.

According to the fanzine 'Six Gun Sound' The Clash busked in Portsmouth on Monday 22 October just after the release in September of This is England. The date given is exact but likely to be wrong? It probably may have been May 85 though October 84 is listed here.

The Clash played Career Opportunities, Police & Thieves, English Civil War, All the Young Punks, Brand New Cadilac and 'a scorching rendition of their new single This is England'.

However Monday 22 October is actually 1984 when the band were already playing This is England. Six Gun Sound was a BAD fanzine a couple of years later supporting the band of the same name who started out as Rebel Truce until they realised there were 2 Rebel Truces'.
