Frozen Blood – The History of the Band

Frozen Blood was born in the winter of 2001 in Budapest, founded by Venom.

The band’s roots reach deep into the world of classic, northern-inspired black metal, upholding raw sound, dark atmosphere, and the spirit of the old underground.

Venom had previously played in various death, grind, and black metal bands, and based on this experience he gave life to Frozen Blood, which has since stood for uncompromising sound and mystical, dark themes.

The first lineup consisted of the trio Amodiel (vocals), Sirius (drums), and Venom (guitar), later joined by Charon (bass) and Aratuk (deep vocals).

Frozen Blood has always distanced itself from trendy styles and commercial directions – focusing instead on dark atmospheres, raw sound, and honest, uncompromising expression.

Over the years, the band performed at several concerts, where visual elements – corpse paint, torches, and ritualistic ambience – helped create a world where the music of Frozen Blood truly came alive.

Frozen Blood has always aimed to visually reflect the dark, ritualistic, and mystical atmosphere conveyed in its songs.

The members appeared in classic black metal style: their faces painted with black patterns on white base, creating a cold and inhuman character typical of the genre.

Their outfits often included studded armguards, metallic accessories, chains, and military-inspired clothing, evoking power, coldness, and a warlike atmosphere.

This appearance is not merely an aesthetic choice, but an integral part of the raw, underground worldview that permeates Frozen Blood's artistic expression.

After lineup changes, from 2005 onwards, Venom continued the band as a solo project.

Fetus (2003) was still recorded with the previous full lineup, while Night of Wolves (2006) was created entirely by Venom as a one-man project.

Fetus (2003) – The Sounds of Ritual Darkness

Frozen Blood’s first release, Fetus, evokes the spirit of underground old school black metal.

The album contains four original compositions – The Burning Sign, Of Black Woods, Black Death, and Fetus – which conjure images of frozen landscapes, death, decay, and supernatural forces, all in a mystical and eerie atmosphere.

The lyrics were written by Amodiel, and they are more than just stories – they are visions: abandoned forests, icy memories, and destructive powers emerge, portrayed with ritualistic and ominous imagery.

The album also includes a unique cover version of the cult band Beherit’s Black Arts, presented in a distinct Frozen Blood interpretation, as a tribute to the roots of old school black metal.

Fetus is a faithful snapshot of the band’s early period, with a strong emphasis on ritualistic atmosphere and raw, honest sound.

Night of Wolves (2006) – The Night of Wrath and Darkness

The second release, Night of Wolves, presents the harsher, faster, and more combative side of Frozen Blood’s musical world.

The album includes five tracks – Hatespeech, Crucifixion, Magnefice Domine Rector, Night of Wolves, and Officer of Satan – expressing images of dark forces, conflict, and a thirst for freedom, wrapped in a heavily atmospheric and mystical tone.

Aratuk’s lyrics during this era focused more on inner struggles, destructive forces, and the deeper, darker dimensions of the human soul, expressed in a raw and direct manner.

Compared to previous works, the album features a more intense, raw sound, representing the more militant and aggressive branch of underground black metal, while maintaining Frozen Blood’s characteristic atmospheric style.

Night of Wolves is a dark journey to the edges of inner and outer worlds, for those seeking the most sincere face of underground black metal.
