| Rendezők, írók - Hegylakó: a Film - Russell Mulcahy |
1953. június 23.-án született Melbourne-ben, Ausztráliában. Pályája kezdetén amator operatorként dolgozott és több díjat is elnyert alakításaival. 1978-ban figyelt fel rá John Roseman, rock-videoklipek neves producere. Mulcahy 1983-ig több mint 300 videoklipet rendezett, a Rolling Stones, Elton John, Billy Joel és Rod Stewart számára is dolgozott.
Reklámfilmeket is készített, többek között a Ford, a British Petroleum, az Opel, a Heinecken Beer, a Smirnoff Vodka és az HBO számára.
1983-ban forgatta Ausztrália bozótvilágában a "Razorback" c. filmjét, mely a filmkritikusok elismerését is elnyerte, mára pedig igazi kultuszfilmmé vált.
1986-ban készült a Hegylakó, mellyel Mulcahy szakmai élete egy csapásra megváltozott.
1992-ben Denzel Washnigton foszereplésével készítette el a Visszakézbol (Richocet) c. akciófilmjét.
Legfontosabb filmjei: Kék jég (Blue Ice) Sean Young és Michael Caine oszereplésével, A tuti balhé (The Real McCoy) Kim Basingerrel, Az árnyék (The Shadow) Alex Baldwinnel és a Feltámadás (Rescurrection) Christopher Lamberttel a foszerepben.
