16.8 Notes for OSCAR and Rocks Users
gdb is part of the default Linux installation
and should be available on your system. You will need to add
ddd to your system if you wish to use it. Since
OSCAR installs X Window System only on the head node, you will not be
able to run ddd on your compute nodes. Rather,
you will need to run gdb on your compute node as
shown in the last example in this chapter.
gdb and ddd are included
with Rocks on the frontend and compute nodes. However,
you'll need to forward ddd
sessions to the frontend using the DISPLAY environment variable since
the X Window System is not set up to run locally on compute
nodes.
