Pool deck pavers over concrete & installing porch steps

I’m considering upgrading my backyard by installing pool deck pavers over concrete to give it a fresh, modern look. Has anyone done this before? I’m curious about how well pavers hold up when placed directly over existing concrete, especially around a pool where water drainage is important. Do I need to add a sand layer or special underlayment? At the same time, I’m thinking of installing porch steps to match the new pool area. Would it be better to hire a professional to handle both projects at once, or is this something a skilled DIYer can manage?
