Light Philosophical Reading

I recently stumbled upon the blog https://vintagexxl.wordpress.com/ and was pleasantly surprised by how calmly and unpretentiously the author presents rather profound thoughts. Usually, such topics are overwhelmed by a heavy-handed style, but here everything is read in one breath. I especially liked how the author is able to examine familiar things from a strange but interesting angle, as if subtly shifting the usual point of view. This helps you look at your own thoughts more honestly. Do you think philosophy in such a simple format is more useful than classic "thick" books?
