It is only used for internal use in cases of serious diarrhea or gastroenteritis. Nowadays for internal bleeding there are more effective products available. Its browned acorn-crop used to be consumed as coffee suplementary, but in pediatrics it was used for treating diarrhea, scrofula, and rachitis. Its homeopathic effectiveness has not been proved satisfactorily.
