Zsóry Spa and beachcenter
One of the sights of Mezőkövesd is the Zsóry Spa and beach center 3 kilometers away from the town, and it is one of the biggest and most visited beaches and spa baths of northern Hungary.

The Spa has a territory of 11 hectares, plenty of grassy sun-porches and parks; the spa bath and the beach are isolated from each other.

It offers an active pastime for every age group for each day of the year: warm and cold water pools, circle and wave pools, slip way, a 330 m² swimming pool and a sauna can be found in it.
History
The Spa received its name from its onetime owner and founder, Lajos Szentléleki Zsóry. As they were sinking for crude oil in 1939, to the surprise of the explorers, instead of oil a 30 m tall pillar of hot water rushed up.

The Spa has reserved the name of Zsóry, its former owner and founder, who made the chemical analysis and examination of its medicinal effects prepared in the same year.

Later examinations also verified that Zsóry thermal water is valuable mineral water. It is a thermal spring of calcium, magnesium, carbo-hydrate and natrium chloride. Considering its medicinal effects, the water is not only one of the most valuable natural resources of Hungary, but it is also considerable in Europe.
The medicinal water of Mezőkövesd can be successfully used for the curing rheumatic illnesses, arthritis, spine problems and muscle pains. In the therapical section people wanting to be recovering can take advantage of mud-pack, medical and refreshing massage and weight-bath. Not far from the Spa there is a rheumatic hospital for 150 people.
