How to download
from ROXBYTES?
Since ROXBYTES hosts
huge files, it is highly recommended that you use a download manager to get the
files. Please note that not all download managers
are compatible with the server. You can't download with Download Accelerator or
with certain versions of GetRight. ROXBYTES recommends FlashGet, a free software
for downloading files from the internet. If your download is broken, FlashGet automatically
continues your download from the part it was broken or paused. You can download
FlashGet from the software download section of
ROXBYTES (click here to get
there). For the best performance, configure FlashGet
the following way: select "Tools" -> "Options" from the menu. Then go to the
"Connections" tab. Set "Max simultaneous jobs" to 1. Then, when you begin
to download a file, set "Split file: 2 parts simultaneous" on the
download details panel. This is the fastest and best way you can get the
file.
When I want to download, I'm asked to enter a username and a password. What are
these?
You do not need a
username and a password to download files from ROXBYTES. If you are asked to
enter a username or a password, it is because you are using a download manager
that is incompatible with the server (for example, Download Accelerator or
GetRight). Save the file directly from your browser or download it with FlashGet,
a download manager available in the
software download section of ROXBYTES (click here to get
there).
What
is an OGG file? How can I play it? Why not mp3?
OGG
Vorbis is an open source audio encoding format that provides way
better compression / quality ratio than any other technology currently
available. For example, an OGG file encoded with a bitrate of 96 kbps provides a
better output than a 128 kbps mp3 file. What's more, OGG files are way smaller
than mp3s. So everyone benefits using this enoding method: since files are
smaller, we can upload a lot more songs to our servers - and you can download
them faster. Sounds good, doesn't it? It's easy to play OGG files with Winamp
(get it from the software download section of ROXBYTES), but there is a huge
amount of software using OGG. Here are a few for
Windows -
Mac -
Linux users. Want to burn OGG files as an audio
CD? No problem! There's a great
plugin for Nero Burning ROM. Alternatively, you can create WAV files
from OGGs with
CDEX and create audio CDs with any compatible
CD-burning software.
How to play the
files I downloaded?
Well, for audio files (ogg, midi),
ROXBYTES
recommends Winamp, while for videos, you need to have Windows
Media Player, and a series of codecs. You can get them all from the
software download
section of ROXBYTES (click here to get there).
I don't see
the video / can't hear the sound. What should I do?
Most likely you are missing a codec that's necessary
to play the file. Get alll the required files from the
software download section
of ROXBYTES (click here to get there).
What's a m2v/SVCD
file? How do I play it?
First of all, you have to have the m2v codec
installed on your computer. Then, you need a suitable player to watch the video.
ROXBYTES recommends RadLight, a free video player that plays most formats. Both
the m2v codec and RadLight are available to dowload
software download section of
ROXBYTES (click here to get there).
Do you sell your stuff
on CD?
NO! ROXBYTES is only for downloads, we do not
burn our collection on CD-R and sell them. Please don't ask us to do that.
Also, we discourage you to download material from ROXBYTES and then sell it. Asking
money for something you don't own the copyrights is illegal. We continuously monitor
eBay or other auction sites where some people attempt to sell CD-Rs with content
downloaded from ROXBYTES. In all cases we warn bidders / buyers not to buy such
items. Help us keeping ROXBYTES alive and free: don't ask money for something that's
available for everyone for free.
I have some rare Roxette or related stuff. Can I upload them to ROXBYTES?
