David Bryan Rashbaum was born in Edison, New Jersey in February 7, 1962. Just like his father, he had learnt to play the trumpet, but later on, he started taking piano lessons. He used to play in John Bongiovi's former band, the Atlantic City Expressway. After high school, he had studied medicine, but later on he decided to learn classical music instead. But then came John and asked him to join Bon Jovi...

In 1990 he married his high school sweetheart, April McLean. They have three kids: the twins Gabrielle Luna and Colton Moon in 1994 and Tiger Lilly in 2000.

His first solo album, "On A Full Moon" was released in 1995. He re-released it with a slightly modified tracklist in 2000 under the name "Lunar Eclipse".
