John
Francis Bongiovi was born on March 2, 1962 in Perth Amboy, New
Jersey. He always dreamed of a musical career. He formed his first band,
Atlantic City Expressway in 1979. The first member of this band
was David Bryan, who later became Bon Jovi's keyboard player. The band
had some modest local success. As a senior high school student, John met
Dorothea Rose Hurley, who later became his wife and mother of
their children.
In the
beginning of the 1980s John got a job in the legendary Power Station
Studios as an assistant. Although he had to make coffee and clean
the floor, he didn't mind, since after work, he could stay there to work
on his own songs. When a local radio station released "Runaway"
made him a well known musician. The success of the song (And the record
label Mercury) made it necessary for John to have a band: Bon Jovi
was officially formed.
In 1989,
Jon married Dorothea Rose Hurley.

After the band's New Jersey
tour in 1989-1990, the exhausted members got home without common plans.
Jon was asked by his friend, Emilio Estevez to compose the soundtrack to
his movie, Young Guns II. The song "Blaze Of Glory" was a
great success, just like Jon's first solo album, containing further
songs form the movie.
In 1993
Stephanie Rose was born. Two years later, Dorothea gave birth to
Jesse James Louis.
Around the
middle of the 1990s, Jon became more and more interested in cinema. He
has played some roles in several films and TV-series, such as: The
Leading Man, No Looking Back, Little City,
Homegrown, U-571, Pay It Forward, Los Muertos,
Sex And The City and Ally McBeal.
His second
solo album, "Destination Anywhere" was released in 1997, which
was followed by some solo live appearances. "The Power Station Years
1980-1983", a semi-official release collects some songs Jon recorded
while he was working in the Power Station Studios.
In 2002,
Jon and Dorothea's third child, Jacob Hurley was born. |
