13 albums, about 40 singles, several
tours in 18 years. Yes, that's Roxette. The pop-duo from
Sweden, today, its members, Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle,
are known all over the world. But let's see how it all
started...

1992
During the Join
The Joyride tour, Roxette has recorded several songs. A
compilation of these and some live recordings was released
in 1992 under the name "Tourism
- Songs From Studios, Stages, Hotelrooms and Other Strange
Places".
Singles of the albums include "How Do You Do!", "Queen
Of Rain" and "Fingertips".
1993
Roxette was invited
by MTV to take part in their Unplugged series - they were
the first non-English speaking band to play such a concert.
The same year, Roxette recorded a song called "Almost
Unreal" for the movie "Super Mario Bros".
Although the film failed, the song did well in the charts.
1994
The fifth album, "Crash!
Boom! Bang!" was released in 1994, containing some of
their best up-tempo songs, like "Sleeping In My Car",
or "Fireworks", just like beautiful ballads, such as
"Run To You", "Vulnerable" and the title
track. This year, Roxette began their second world tour. In
the US, an album containing 10 songs of the original one was
released, called "Favourites From Crash! Boom! Bang!"
Although copies were only available in Mc Donald's
restaurants, they sold over 1 million...
1995
The tour went on,
visiting places like South America, South Africa,
Australia... and China. The band calls this concert one of
their most memorable... In 1995, a Greatest Hits album was
released. "Don't Bore Us - Get To The Chorus!"
features 4 new songs ("You Don't Understand Me", "June
Afternoon", "She Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "I
Don't Want To Get Hurt") and 16 hits. "Rarities",
an album full of previously unreleased material had been
released before the Greatest Hits compilation.
1996
Because of a huge
number of fans living in Latin America, Roxette decided to
release a compilation of their best ballads, entitled "Baladas
En Español" in 1996. Although neither Per, nor Marie
speaks Spanish, the album was warmly welcome in Spanish
speaking countries worldwide.
1997
The first album, "Pearls
Of Passion" was re-released, containing some bonus
tracks, such as the title track or "Turn To Me".
1998
After a long silence,
Marie and Per got back to the studios recording songs for
their next album.
